The protective effect of different dose of the beta 2-agonist terbutaline on postexercise bronchial reactivity was investigated in 20 healthy non-smoking subjects. One week before the exercise test the patients were given two different doses of the drug in a double-blind randomised cross over design; they were assigned to receive either 0.5 mg terbutaline twice daily or placebo (randomly allocated) for 4 days. Pulmonary function tests were performed immediately before and 5 hours after the exercise test. A significant reduction in exercise-induced bronchospasm was observed after treatment with terbutaline compared to placebo (p ’t know whether a residual faithfulness is the right model for every belief, nor whether postlapsarian individuals should be required to have faith in any hypothetical deity. I don’t need to have a residual faith in Yahweh to believe that he exists, that he’s a wise and just god who cares about his children, or that he ultimately gives the most fundamental message of Christianity. I still remember Christ’s call to the Pharisees, “You unbelieving and perverse generation! How long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring here every kind of sinful thing the Gentiles practice.” (Luke 11:43) I agree that Christianity is both a religion of history and a religion of the future. I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. The rules of pluralism are so vague and unprincipled, it’s hard to see how they’re any different from the widespread and unprincipled invocation of laws of physics to prohibit prayer in public schools, or abortion laws. “Christianity is both a religion of history and a religion of the future.” I don’t agree. To say that Christianity is a religion of the future is like saying that Islam is a religion of the past. Islam and Christianity are not mutually exclusive. Christianity, like Islam, is a faith with a future.
